Just finished the show - Departures (Okuribito).
If you've never heard of it, it's a Japanese production.
*Spoilers Ahead*
Departures mainly revolves around a man named Daigo (played by Masahiro Motoki) who's a cellist-turned-mortician He dreams of becoming a professional cellist but out of the blue, the orchestra went broke and had to be dissolved. So, being driven desperate, he had to sell his 18 Million Yen cello (madness) which he still owed and move back to his home-town with his wife. He sees an advertisement in the newspaper stating 'Departures' with high pay and short hours. Mistaking it as a travel agency, he phones in for an interview and was surprised as he was hired immediately. He then learns that there was a printing error in the newspaper and that 'Departures' was supposed to be 'The Departed'. But due to the high pay (500,000 Yen) and his desperate need for money, he took on the job.
I'll leave the rest for you guys to watch. It's quite an original plot. Though the story may seem a little morbid, it's actually quite an interesting watch as well as an eye-opener. This story contains multiple genres including comedy and drama. Although the Japanese trailer states that this show is not suitable for children, I find this show to be pretty mild. It can be quite a family show. There's also some cello moments played by Daigo. I definitely recommend this show. So, enjoy!
